Oldies but Goodies….Introduce Your Kids to Classic Movies

The popcorn is being made, and your family is in a “movie mood.” Instead of Nemo or another princess movie, how about watching a classic family film? Don’t get me wrong, the latest and greatest feature films are fun, but you can’t beat the good old movies for family entertainment.  The wholesome family adventures, the wonderful old-school special effects, the animals, the costumes, the acting, the singing and the dancing…. Plus, these classic masterpieces are usually clever enough to hold the attention of us parents, as well as our kids.

My six-year-old son, Charlie, and I have enjoyed quite a few of the classics. He loved his fine, four wheeled fendered friend ~ Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang. When he was about four, he would run around the house singing “so long farewell, I hate to say goodbye” from the Sound of Music.  And, he wanted Mary Poppins to babysit.

My husband and I are looking forward to when Charlie is a little older and our classic flicks can include: The Adventures of Robin Hood, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Parent Trap, Swiss Family Robinson, The Music Man, and Benji.

Oldies can be goodies, so what are some of your favorite movie classics that you want to share with your children?
